Ballet is the foundation for all styles of dance and it is recommended that students have training in Classical Ballet to further improve their posture, leg line and foot strength.
The Collective offers the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus which is one of the most well known and highly regarded ballet syllabus’ worldwide.
We offer these classes from a Pre-Primary to Advanced 2 level. Examinations are available for students, however these are not compulsory.
Lyrical and Contemporary is an expressive style of dance and is an extension of Classical Ballet. In this genre movement is free and expressive whilst still maintaining the fundamentals from ballet. This style is about connecting the body and mind through dance.
Students who take lyrical or contemporary dance classes must participate in at least one ballet class per week.
Jazz is a modern, upbeat, dynamic style of dance. Students will learn essential jazz techniques that form the foundations of this style. With modern music, classes are fun and energetic.
The Collective offers Jazz classes and routines that are entertaining and dynamic combining strength and fitness with technique and ability.
This style is the most relaxed out of all the dance genres and really allows students to express their unique style.
Students learn many aspects of Hip Hop dancing and other tricks relating to this urban style.
These classes teach students all of the different aspects of the Musical Theatre world. Students will not only learn how to express themselves on stage but also an element of acting.
Routines for these classes do vary from traditional Musical Theatre to specialised or comedic Variety Acts.
Tap dance is a dynamic art form in which a dancer wearing shoes fitted with toe and heel ‘taps’ creates audible beats through rhythmically striking the floor.
The Collective offers open tap classes to teach the fundamentals of Tap but also offers the Les Griffith Tap Dancing Association syllabus. Students can participate in examinations, if they wish.
A wonderful introduction to the world of dance for 2-3 year olds. Our specialised Mini Movement Program caters for girls and boys and teaches the basic foundation for rhythm and movement.
Classes are fun and engaging with different themes and props and incorporates a variety of learn to dance styles in one class.
Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. Acro Dance seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context.
Acro Dance offers more depth and variety to your dancing and creates a much more versatile dancer. It is a popular dance style used in contemporary circus productions such as those by Cirque du Soleil.
Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students' technique by focussing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance.
This program also helps with injury prevention and rehabilitation and enhances the ability of athletes to perform at their best.
Suited for beginners or those who want to get back into dance. Being busy working parents, we understand the importance of taking time for ourselves and dance is one of the best ways to do that!
Each class has a mix of Jazz and Hip Hop exercises with the option of really challenging your mind and body or relax into your own pace. Let go of your worries and meet some great like-minded people all the while building up your fitness.
